Florence (Colorado) — Richard had brought two different outfits with him to the crowning of the town king and queen - one with a cowboy hat, the other a red T-shirt emblazoned with America, Home of the Brave. Times are hard and Richard's finding gigs hard to come by. He doesn't like country much, but the ball's organizers had asked him to play quite a few country tracks that evening. The Stetson and T-shirt are crowd-pleasers. Richard's even got a starred shirt in the back of his old Ford van, even though he isn't really into patriotism. Richard lives here. You can sense his boredom. He packs up his gear, all on his own. In the film, you see a couple wearing light sweaters dancing lovingly together: Beth and Carl.
